Judicial History of Rewa District
In Rewa district, there used to be justice in Rajshahi and Rajdarbar earlier. Still, Maharaja Vishwanath Pratap Singh of Rewa started a separate judicial system, and in 1827, he formed Mitakshara Court and Dharmasabha, which became famous as Kachehri Mitakshara. Pandit Krishnachari, Gobindram Shukla, and Gokul Nath Mahapatra arranged Pawar Diwani, criminal decisions started and the ruler of the Dharmasabha, Ramnath Gadriha was appointed, after a few days Jagannath Shastri was included in the Dharmasabha.
A person filed a case against King Vishwanath Singh of Rewa princely state in the court of Jagannath Shastri in the old princely state of Rewa district. Appeared, Shastri ji refused by writing the present order magazine which was called Izhar.
Written laws were made in the Rewa Rajshahi itself, in which the main law was the Rewa Raj Goods Act, of 1935. Teonthar, Mauganj, and Sirmaur Tehsil Courts have formed in 1935 and in 1935 itself, the formal court was formed in Rewa. After that, when Vindhya Pradesh was formed, High Court Judicator Vindhya Pradesh was inaugurated on 01.09.1948 at 03.45 by Honorable Chief Justice Raibahadur P.C. Mogha and at that time Pancholi Chatur Singh, Durgaprasad, Lal Praduman Singh worked as judges. After the formation of Madhya Pradesh in 1956, the said Judicial Commissioner was merged with the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Babu Ram Manohar Lal formed a separate Lawyers Association in Rewa Raj, after becoming the first president, he created the Rewa Raj Goods Law. In 1926, some lawyers’ certificates were issued with the seal of Rewa Maharaja and Judicial Commissioner Lal Shankar Singh. Photographs of Judges of Rewa Judicial Commissioner are available, after Rewa princely state, the court of Judicial Commissioner in which High Court was held from 1948 to 1956, its photocopy is attached.
Honarable Shri Justice J.S Verma and Honarable Shri Justice Guru Prasanna Singh were members of Rewa Judicial Commissioner’s Court and Rewa Advocates’ Association.
